The Centreville Day Citizen of the Year Awards recognize and spotlight outstanding volunteers and leaders in the Centreville area community (this includes areas with Chantilly and Clifton zip codes). The award recognizes contributions of innovation, motivation, community building, ethical integrity and leadership among individuals, businesses, or nonprofit organizations.
Special recognition of lifetime achievement in local history occurs occasionally in the form of the Centreville Day Citizen of the Year and Community Historian Award.
Young people who undertake projects that support historic preservation are eligible for an FHC Young Historians Grant.




Eligibility: Any individual, team of individuals, business, or nonprofit organization serving the greater Centreville area (Centreville-Chantilly-Clifton) that has made an outstanding contribution to the community in a particular year or has consistently served over many years is eligible. The recipient or a representative must be present on the morning of Centreville Day to receive the award. The award is presented by the Sully District Supervisor on the stage during as part of the opening ceremonies.
The Award: Each recipient will be honored in the Centreville Day program with a brief description of their accomplishments. They will receive a certificate of recognition and a plaque from Sully District Supervisor on Centreville Day during the opening ceremonies on stage. A press release will also be issued.
Nominations: The Centreville Day Planning Committee will select award recipients from among those individuals, businesses and nonprofits nominated. Nominations may be made by any resident of the greater Centreville area or by any member of the Centreville Day Planning Committee. Nominators are free to make nominations in more than one category, or multiple nominations within a category. Nominations can be made with or without the candidate’s knowledge. Self-nominations are not be accepted, but a nominator is welcome to consult and collaborate with the nominee.
Deadline: Nominations from outside the Planning Committee must be received by midnight September 13, 2020.
